Our History

Lee and Terrie were married on June 12, 1999 and thus began our dream of opening a Bed & Breakfast. We have always loved staying at them because of the atmosphere and personal attention from our host. Lee and I discussed maybe opening a Bed & Breakfast one day. One day came much sooner than we could have ever dreamed. When returning from our honeymoon in Natchez, MS we went to a book store. It was there I discovered a book of cottage house plans and found the home I always dreamed of building and starting my life with my wonderful husband Lee.

I showed the plans to Lee and he loved them. We should build this house and make it a Bed & Breakfast. We both love Natchitoches and the water, so Lee began making inquires about land in Natchitoches. He found this perfect place on a hill nestled beside Sibley Lake. We purchased the land in August 1999 and then found a builder and started our new house. The land was very natural and it took time to clear it. Finally, on October 14, 1999 the slab was poured and I realized WOW this was really happening. While the builder was busy so was I. I began thinking about how I wanted the house to be decorated and I began purchasing items as I found them anxiously awaiting the day we would move into our new home.

Lee said we needed a name and he wanted it to be French since the house design is a French country cottage. He came up with the name Chateau D' Terre, which means "House of the Earth"

The pictures show the various stages the house went through while being built. The house was started in Oct. 1999 and we moved in April 2000.

Now as I sit on the front porch (the house was built around this porch) I can't believe that our dreams of owning our own Bed & Breakfast have come true. Lee and I have truly been blessed.

We hope visitors will enjoy the serene setting as much as we do and take an opportunity to get back to the simple things in life.
