Natchitoches, Louisiana History

The French established Natchitoches in 1714. It is the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase territory (13 states). Natchitoches is actually older than New Orleans. A blending of colonial French and Spanish cultures makes it "The New Orleans of North Louisiana".
